Skin Health: Psoriasis: Sores from psoriasis  Next

Sores from psoriasis

by: Anonymous

Question : I HAVE been suffering from psoriasis for two years and have consulted several doctors. They prescribed anti-allergy, steroid creams and injections but I just can't get the right medication to ease the sores on my palms and sides of my feet.
Answer : PSORIASIS is an incurable condition caused by piling up of skin cells that have replicated almost 1,000 times faster than normal skin.
It has a strong hereditary factor, with family history in 50 per cent of psoriasis cases. Incomplete protein digestion, bowel toxaemia, impaired liver function, alcohol consumption and excessive consumption of animal fats may also be responsible for psoriasis.
Essential fatty acids, in particular eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), are extremely important in psoriasis. EPA inhibits the production of inflammatory leukotriene (a potent inflammatory agent which increases cell proliferation and production of which is many times greater in a person with psoriasis) from arachidonic acids.
Detoxification may be a good idea. Milk Thistle is a liver tonic. It helps to optimise functions of the liver, which are vital in detoxifying the body. Psoriasis has been linked to excessive accumulations of toxins and microbial by-products. A sluggish liver will definitely make the psoriasis worse. You may take one tablet three times daily with food. Do not consume alcohol as it can increase the absorption of toxins from the gut.
For external use, you may try topical corticostesroid that can be applied sparingly on the affected skin to reduce inflammation and itchiness, Creams contain allantoin and chamomile extracts are effective in alleviating the itchiness.
Reduce the intake of meat and animal fats as these may lead to production of inflammatory substances and excessive toxins in the gastrointestinal tract. Eat an adequate amount of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fibres from these foods are able to bind to bowel toxins and promote their excretion in the faeces. You should drink at least eight glasses of water daily to flush out toxins form the body.
Try to get exposed to warm sunlight, as one hour per day is extremely beneficial for those with psoriasis. Aerobic exercise, at least 30 minutes three times a week, is highly recommended.
