Depression is not any different. Stop denying it is the first step.

going to disappear without treatment, you must seek medical care.
The sooner you do it the better it is. There is a what to do in order to help you heal. First, see your doctor for over all checkup and evaluation.Depression can be a side effect of another illness. After ruling out any other illness, you will be addressed to a mental health professional who can, according to your condition, prescribe you depression medication or suggest psychotherapy. Give your doctor all the details he
needs in order to give you the best depression treatment possible.
Tell him everything there is to know about your condition for instance: what are the symptoms, how long have you been depressed, have you experienced any trauma or loss lately or any other detail that can help him come up with the right diagnosis and treatment for your illness.

3. Gather information about your condition. Don't hesitate to ask your
doctor any question regarding your symptoms, thoughts and feeling.
You can also search the internet. Educate yourself as much as
possible. After all, Knowledge is power.

4. Share your story with your closest people; it makes it easier to deal
with anything when you have support from your friends and family.
You can also have support from people that also suffer the same
illness. Surround yourself with people that can understand your
condition. Search the yellow pages or the internet for mental support
groups in your area.

5. Don't feel embarrassed. Depression is not a rare illness, in fact it is
rather common, the good news are that if you get a professional help and if you get a proper treatment you can beat depression.

6. Stay hopeful the all time. You have to believe that it is possible to beat
depression and get your life back on track. Both psychotherapy and
medications are proven ways to treat depression.

7. Be patient. Depression takes time to heal. It's not going to go away
just like that. In the meantime, take a good care of yourself, eat well,
try to exercise and follow your doctor's orders. Don't get angry or
