BEAUTIFUL NEW BODY SCULPTING Mesotherapy -- What is it and how can it enhance your life?
Dr. Dima Ali
Anti-aging aesthetic treatments have reached an exciting new pinnacle with Mesotherapy, a safe and effective treatment for body sculpting, cellulite reduction and skin rejuvenation. Pioneered in France in the 1950s, Mesotherapy is widely practiced in Europe and South America, although it is fairly new in the United States. Beautiful skin and well-sculpted bodies are not just for the rich and famous anymore!
What Is Mesotherapy? Mesotherapy is the practice of using microinjections of a medication and/or vitamins into the middle layer of skin to deliver healing or corrective treatment to a specific area of the body. In cosmetic medicine, the three areas Mesotherapy addresses are excess fat, cellulite, and skin rejuvenation. The formula for each of these procedures is different. While each Mesotherapy treatment may involve many small injections, the treatment sessions typically take only a short time to complete.
How Does It Work? Using an ultrafine, specially manufactured needle (the finer the needle, the less it hurts) the formula is painlessly injected into the middle or second layer of skin. The injections are about an inch apart so the number of injections depends on the size of the area being injected. A topical anesthetic cream is applied to the area to further decrease any pain a patient might experience.
What Challenges Can Mesotherapy Treat? Mesotherapy treats three common problems: excess fat, cellulite, & skin aging.
Fat Reduction: Mesotherapy works wonders for individuals who are having trouble losing excess body fat in specific areas of their body. The “fat burning formula” blocks the cells from storing fat while it breaks down the existing fat cells. A minimum of three treatments is usually required and they are spaced approximately one month apart. The number of treatments depends on the amount of fat that the patient needs to lose. Frequently targeted areas are the hips, thighs, saddle bags, abdomen, bra bulge, double chins, and jowls. This treatment is a wonderful adjunct to a healthy lifestyle program of good nutrition and exercise.
Cellulite: Mesotherapy is by far the most successful and progressive of all cellulite treatments currently available today. Cellulite commonly appears on the hips, legs, and buttocks, yet it is not caused by being overweight as many normal weight or thin people suffer from this condition. For many of us, diet and exercise just do not solve the cellulite problem. Mesotherapy smoothes out the skin by eliminating the ‘dimpled’ or unsightly ‘orange peel’ appearance associated with cellulite. Nothing even comes close to the results that Mesotherapy achieves for the reduction of cellulite. For many people suffering from this distressing condition, Mesotherapy can be an answer to a prayer.
Skin Rejuvenation: Mesotherapy for skin rejuvenation is commonly referred to as MesoGlow. An entirely different formula is used for rejuvenation than is used for fat reduction or cellulite. This treatment infuses the skin with potent vitamins and antioxidants that are injected into the targeted area. The most common areas treated with MesoGlow are the face, hands, neck, and arms. MesoGlow stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin thereby decreasing sagging skin and wrinkles. Skin tone is also drastically improved. The results can be quite dramatic. Sagging jowls magically rise, and hands look more youthful. A series of three to five treatments is usually recommended. Treatment may begin as early as your twenties to prevent wrinkles and fine lines from forming. Those who have had this procedure describe their skin as being much more “radiant,” “glowing,” and “firm.”
Does Mesotherapy Last Forever? With the encouragement of a change in your diet and daily exercise, you will surely continue the success of the Mesotherapy Treatments. Many Mesotherapy patients, who change their diets and begin a regular exercise routine, usually find no need to return for more treatments. Patients will occasionally return because of the success of their initial treatments and to receive additional related Mesotherapy treatments, for other skincare and bodycare challenges.
Are There Any Potential Side Effects The most significant side effects from Mesotherapy are temporary bruising, swelling, and soreness from the injections made during each treatment. These three side effects are well tolerated and usually dissipate within a week or so.
Who Performs Mesotherapy? Only a licensed and certified physician should perform this procedure directly on patients in a medical clinic, a medical spa, or a Wellness center. For all Mesotherapy patients, a complete consultation and analysis must be given prior to any treatment.
Mesotherapy Advantages: Mesotherapy is a wonderful solution for women and men who want to maintain a more youthful appearance. One of the best advantages of this procedure is that there is generally no downtime from work. Unlike liposuction, it is a scarless procedure that treats rather than promotes cellulite. With Mesotherapy, you can achieve a more beautiful and younger looking body and face. Mesotherapy is definitely 21st century beauty. Maybe it’s time for you to consider a “Total Image” makeover with Mesotherapy!
