Tramadol Side Effects

Tramadol is a pain-relieving drug, which is mostly prescribed to neutralize medium, severe or recurring pain in patients. It is effective in treating post operative, dental, back, joint and cancerous pains. This drug is preferred over many other forms of painkiller, as it is known to be less addictive. The drug should only be taken under the direction of a physician.

Every drug has a side effect, some are pronounced while others are subdued. Even though the side effects of consuming Tramadol are not as widely reported as many other drugs, they can certainly happen in some patients. The most common side effect is a sleep-inducing tendency. Some patients experience headaches or nervousness. People have also been known to experience spasms as a result of this drug. Due to these anticipated effects, patients should not drive or engage in heavy work after consuming this drug.

Some patients have complained of a blurred vision after consuming Tramadol over a period of time. A fast heartbeat or breathlessness may also occur. Some patients could be prone to puffiness and itching of the face, while others may undergo numbness or tingling of the limbs. Patients may also experience uneasiness or restlessness. These symptoms should not be taken lightly and it is advisable to contact a physician immediately.

Other probable effects include nausea and sweating. Patients may also experience constipation or diarrhea. Effects are different according to a patient�s individual body metabolism and the dosage of the drug. Some people may experience vomiting. If a patient has an overdose of Tramadol, it causes breathing complexities and convulsions. People may even experience agitation and anxiety after consuming the drug.

If a patient is taking any other medication, it is important to inform this to the physician. It has been observed that Tramadol can increase the effects of other drugs. Medication of any type including antidepressants, antihistamines, sedatives and muscle relaxants should not be combined with this drug. Consumption of alcohol should be avoided while the drug is being administered. It is important to take only the exact dosages as prescribed by a physician to avoid complications.
